(for your wish is my command) Da Vinci the Genius "There are 3 classes of people: those who see, those who see when they are shown, those who do not see." "Water is the driving force of all nature." Haven't had a good outing together for the longest time due to me having attachment and he having trainings almost everyday, and since I took leave and I wanted to check out the more than 200 incredible art and science inventions by Da Vinci @Science Centre, we did just that! We took a bus down to Ang Mo Kio Hub to get some food to munch before setting off to Science Centre on a 38minutes train ride to Jurong East. When we reached, we had 2options - to walk or to take the bus. We decided to walk so that we could eat at the same time. Science Centre here we come...... When we got there, it was pack with primary school kids all excited here and there. But that didn't stop us from having fun! ![]() And we stumbled upon his childhood fav. T-rex $15 - Da Vinci the Genius Exhibition $16 - Da Vinci the Genius Exhibition + Science Centre Package The queue at the ticketing booth was pretty short and we got our tickets in no time. ~ imitating Mona Lisa (interesting fact: Mona Lisa wasn't a real person. (heavy hearts, swollen eyes) What a week to start with when I received a phone call from my crying mother as she tried her best to convey the message to me while I was at work. At first, I thought she had a bad fall or something really bad happened to her. But she said in her sobbing voice, "Mama, has just passed away." I replied in a shock, "Okay, Do you want me to go over now?" Still crying, she said, "Yes please if you can..." I quickly hung up the phone, informed my supervisor, and made my way down via taxi. When I reached, my mom and auntie surrounded my cold and peaceful looking grandma as their tears rolled down their cheeks and tissues in their palms. Moments later, the undertakers arrived and took grandma's body away, wrapped in two large white sheets with two knots at each end and then slowly carrying her into the undertaker's van where she was sent for embarkation (this reminds me of the 1st episode of Unexpected Access hosted by Wong Lilin). The undertakers returned again around 4ish with my grandma, all cleaned in her new clothes and make up on. They prepared the brown colored coffin designed with lotus and flowers at each sides with the first layer of grandma's clothes - 20sets to be exact before placing her in the coffin. Second layer was her blanket with pink flower patterns and many layers of gold and silver papers and coins, and lastly, another of grandma's blanket (interesting fact : For baptise Buddhist, wood sticks are usually placed in the coffin and family members would burn paper moneys for the deceased. As for non-baptise, placing layers of gold and silver papers and coins is preferred). There were many interesting things I've learnt in a Taoist wake especially the different colored badges for each family members involved in the custom. Friends and relatives came during the 2days to pay their respects to my late grandmother and wreaths were delivered in between. The 3rd day was the hardest for everyone especially her 5children. Many tears were shed and many happy stories about grandma and gonggong were told. Believe or not? Mom said there was a beautiful butterfly flying around mama's coffin and it must be gonggong fetching mama home. My Grandmother, who died at the age of 85 was a strong and beautiful woman. Love, 3days compassionate leave (monday, tuesday, wed) Due to goodwill, company granted me 2days compassionate leave. 3rd Day deducted from my 7days AL entitlement. Originally before receiving the news, yours truly took friday and the following monday off. Hence, leaving thursday the only day at work but while bathing my nose bled again which I also encountered the night before. Feeling giddy and drowsy on the way to work, I decided to take an MC for the day as I made a U-turn back. And, this concludes to NO WORK for Week 15 of IAP. So not used to it!!! :O Labels: 59 (-2) days left penned by ash.
